Team Teach Level 1 course (5459)

ACT Educational Directorate endorses Team-Teach as professional learning to support schools in safely responding to challenging student behaviour. Team-Teach promotes a holistic approach to behaviour supports and interventions through the delivery of school wide skills to support positive teacher student interactions. The PL is a 6 hour Foundation Course designed for low risk settings where physical interventions are not normally required.

Team-Teach has been developed to meet the specific needs of a wide range of disabilities, as well as for those displaying behavioural and/or emotional difficulties. Team-Teach is recognised as good practice for all staff who are likely to use explicit interventions/de-escalation strategies in the course of their work and is used widely across all ACT schools.

This training is designed to highlight both Team-Teach strategies and techniques used within ACT schools including emphasis on personal safety, de-escalation strategies, understanding student behavioural plans and Team-teach ‘language’ use for student, staff and  school communities.
